Chinto, a pirate from China, gets shipwrecked on the shores of
Okinawa. Being stranded, alone and hungry on the beach, he steals crops from
the nearby fields to survive. The peasants of the area report the incident to
the king of the island, Sho Ko, who sends his best warrior, Matsumura, to
arrest the pirate. An epic battle between the two ensues, but none comes out
victorious. Finally, Matsumura decides to stop fighting and makes friends with
Chinto…they both feel like winners. ‘Follow the Way’ is a song that brings
forth the message of the old karate masters of Okinawa, insisting that violence
is not a solution and encouraging each individual to cherish humility and
virtue.
